Your Hundred Year Life: A Film About Rethinking Ageing in the 21st Century

event and training image

Agenda:

  • Welcome and Introductions
  • Your Hundred Year Life - Canadian Premiere
  • Panel Discussion of Key Film Insights

The combination of longer lives and falling birthrates is raising the proportion of older people relative to younger ones in many countries, including Canada. While we know the numbers behind this ageing reality, we know less about its social, health, and economic consequences. This led Dutch entrepreneur, academic, and film maker Dr. Theo Kocken to produce a 1-hour international documentary which studies these consequences in a format that offers keen insights and entertains at the same time. The film premiered in Amsterdam and Rotterdam in September 2022 to wide acclaim.

The National Institute on Ageing (NIA) and KPA Advisory Services are inviting a group of thought-leaders on ageing-related issues to join us for the Canadian premiere of the film. Following showing of the film, an expert panel will place the film’s keen insights into the social, health, and economic consequences of ageing in a Canadian setting. Moderated by pension expert and Rotman Executive-in-Residence Keith Ambachtsheer, the panelists are renowned physician and gerontologist, and NIA’s Director of Health Policy Research Dr. Samir Sinha, career design specialist and author Lisa Taylor, and Jen Recknagel, who is design lead at UHN’s OpenLab initiative to create high-density older resident communities that scale up social interaction and health care delivery. Dr. Theo Kocken rounds out the panel to provide an international perspective.
