Join us along with our guest speaker Cheryl Sadowski for our Falls Prevention Month webinar. Cheryl will be presenting on current medication approaches and practical steps that can be taken to reduce falls risks in older adults.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe the statistics regarding medication overload in older adults
- Identify medications that are high risk for falls and should be avoided in older adults
- Describe resources and tools that can be used to reduce high risk medications
Speaker Bio:
Cheryl Sadowski, B.Sc. (Pharm), Pharm.D., BCGP, FCSHP, CHE
Dr. Cheryl Sadowski is a Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Alberta. She has a clinical practice at the Misericorida Community Hospital Geriatric Outpatient Clinic in Edmonton, an interprofessional clinic focused on geriatric assessment. She has precepted pharmacy students and residents for over 20 years, and led geriatrics curriculum in classroom teaching at the Faculty. She has a research interest in geriatric syndromes and care and has studied awareness of fall related risk factors and safety of medications and mobility. She has worked with the Injury Prevention Centre for many years.
