[Webinar] Taking Time to Mourn the Loss - Bereavement

event and training image

This webinar is the last of a three part series of webinars on grief and bereavement for the community-based seniors' services sector. The first two webinars in the series focused on anticipatory grief and grief, and this third webinar focuses on bereavement.

Time passes. You have moved your grief into mourning the loss. You begin re-engaging in your life. Resolution Leads to Reconciliation.

Webinar Presenter: Daneve McAffer

Daneve was born in Canmore, Alberta and attended the U of A, where she graduated as a physiotherapist with a degree in Rehabilitation Medicine in 1972. She worked as a chest physiotherapist for 10 years, in ICU, and Cardiac Recovery. She was the physio consultant on developing the Home Care Program in the Province of Alberta. The University of Alberta Hospital launched the Palliative Home Care Program to take people home to be with their loved ones. After she left that role, she was the physio on the Home Care Team in the County of Strathcona where she visited clients in their home. During this time she started her own business, facilitating workshops in the areas of interpersonal skills, self care, communication, stress management and building positive relationships with others. She retired in 2010 and moved back to the mountain’s she loves. Daneve’s compassion for others has led her to volunteer throughout her adult life. In 2015 she became an “End of Life” and “Bereavement Visitor” for the Hospice society. This has led her full circle back to working with clients in supporting them at the end of their life and the grief of losing someone they love. Daneve is presently the Columbia Valley coordinator for the Caregivers Network for East Kootenay Seniors and facilitating workshops and presentations.
