Optimizing Technology and Innovation in the Future Delivery of Seniors’ Services- AAG Futures Policy Forum Webinar #7

event and training image

Technology is a potential game changer for improving the delivery of seniors’ services and providing alternate methods of care for older adults, which can enhance their quality of life. The MNP Facility-Based Continuing Care Report recommended that Alberta develop and implement a research, innovation, and technology strategy for continuing care to transform the continuing care system. Many assistive technologies are currently available to support activities of daily living and health monitoring among older adults. These technologies can contribute to a more efficient use of human resources within the seniors’ services sector. However, there is a general lack of awareness of the potential of technology and barriers to innovation, widespread implementation, and equitable access to technologies in most countries. A culture of change is needed to embrace the use of technology in the delivery of seniors’ services and remove barriers.
