2024 Alberta Regional Gatherings

event and training image

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

As thoughts turn towards spring, the HAA team is excitedly preparing for our biggest Regional Gathering Season to date! We are working hard to create custom events that speak to what is most meaningful to you, and have added locations to extend the reach and accessibility. Each gathering will provide opportunities for those who serve older adults, and older adults themselves to, connect, learn from, and inspire others in their area.  Building upon what we heard last year and from ongoing community conversations across Alberta, speakers will address areas of regional and provincial interest, on topics such as volunteerism, collaborative action, community development, and more. In addition to informal networking opportunities, there will be focused time to learn from and interact with local initiatives that are responding to the needs of their communities through home supports, transportation, and social prescribing models. Although the gatherings are free to attend there are limited spaces so you will want to register well in advance.

Please check out the event pages to learn more details on the gathering nearest you.

What folks said were their biggest takeaways from last year's events

  • Importance of networking and creating meaningful connections with community partners to support and serve the older adults in our community
  • It really helped me think of ways we can enhance our coordinated access system for seniors
  • There are so many services offered to seniors that most aren't aware of. We must continue opportunities like this to help us all grow together and offer the best services to our seniors in the community.
  • How much one learns from just talking in person with other agencies! The large scope of the work being done and some ideas to advance our own organizational agenda. Thanks!
  • Feeling connected and inspired by seeing so many people come together and want to create change!
  • exchange of ideas, very diverse group
  • to network with existing community agencies and work better with each other to provide services for seniors
  • There are successful initiatives happening around the province, and there is a joint effort to change the senior serving sector
  • I would like to attend more of these gatherings throughout the province. Lots of connections were made, and the day was very interesting.
  • It was amazing to see the amount of work being put into healthy aging initiatives. As an emerging social worker, many of the concerns that were discussed today are conversations that have been had within my education; however, this is the first situation where I have seen plans in action
  • Lots of great things are happening in Alberta! I can't wait to see where HAA takes Healthy Aging for all Albertans. Keep up the great work!
