CONVERSATION CHECKLIST

The Anti-Racism & Decolonization Learning Action Team in the Fall of 2023 worked together on a compiled list of considerations when community is gathering to have a dialogue on anti-racism and decolonization. We encourage deeper, intentional conversations on the topic. For us to change our community, organizations and systems, we need to start with conversations. However, we’ve noticed that there is resistance among community leaders to centre these conversations. When reflecting, Where do we begin? It’s a learning journey! Anti-racism and decolonization is an ongoing commitment.

HOW TO USE THE CHECKLIST

The purpose of the conversation checklist is to be a guide to consider dynamics that come up when facilitating conversations. This is not an exhaustive list, if anything it may lead to more questions. Some of the prompts are easier than others to understand, implement and facilitate - but are all important to developing a good process for everyone involved.
