About:

Deciding when to claim benefits from the Canada Pension Plan (CPP), or its Quebec counterpart, the Quebec Pension Plan (QPP), is one of the most important financial decisions retiring Canadians will make. In a new eight-part paper series, 7 Steps Toward Better CPP/QPP Claiming Decisions, Dr. Bonnie-Jeanne MacDonald, Director of Financial Security Research for the NIA, answers the question: How can we help Canadians make better decisions and get the most from the CPP/QPP programs?

In releasing this paper series, the NIA aims to provide evidence-based solutions that can realistically be adopted to improve the lives of millions of Canadian retirees for decades to come. The recommendations in the series are aimed at helping experts across the entire Canadian retirement income system.

Stay tuned for the remaining 7 steps that we will be launching throughout 2024!
