Rec@Home Program for Improving and Maintaining Physical, Mental, Emotional, and Social Wellbeing
The Brenda Strafford Foundation hosts Rec@Home Program. This virtual recreation program focuses on improving and/or maintaining individual’s physical, mental, emotional, and social wellbeing through the use of therapeutic recreation activities. They achieve this by eliminating the physical barriers to participate in meaningful leisure and recreational scheduled programs.
They enable individuals to connect and build community through virtual gatherings and provide a comfortable and safe virtual environment where they can create valuable relationships with their peers in the community. The feeling of connectedness to others and to a community or neighborhood contributes to wellbeing and independence, reduces isolation, and provides a sense of belonging.
