[One-pager] National vaccine recommendations for older adults (65+)

resource image

Respiratory infections remain among the leading causes of emergency department visits, hospitalizations, and death in later life. In 2023 alone, more than 13,000 older Canadians lost their lives to COVID-19, influenza and pneumonia. The greatest tragedy is that many of these severe outcomes are preventable through timely vaccination.

To support healthy and independent ageing this Fall and Winter, the NIA has released new provincial and territorial vaccine one-pagers for adults aged 65 and older. These guides were developed for individuals and organizations to easily download, print and share with older adults and those who support older adults in their province/territory of residence. To ensure accessibility, these resources are available in both English and French and will become available over the coming weeks in additional languages commonly spoken by older adults in these jurisdictions.

Our one-page resources outline:

  • National vaccine recommendations.
  • Which vaccines are publicly covered.
  • Where people can go to get their questions answered on vaccines.

We also invite you to explore and share our related resources:

We encourage you to share these resources with your networks and communities to help ensure that older adults have the information they need to make informed decisions and access protection that’s available to them.
