The Utilities Consumer Advocate (UCA) is committed to helping Albertans with their utility questions, concerns and issues.

The UCA’s website is filled with resources to help make you an informed consumer.

Learn how to choose a retailer, how to switch retailers and what to consider before locking in your utility rate.

Interested in different utility options in your area? The Cost Comparison Tool shows you available plans, along with a breakdown of associated charges, the contract and other considerations.

For Albertan’s who are struggling with utility bill payments, the UCA has information about utility disconnection, the Alberta Utilities Commission’s Winter Utility Reconnection Program and a list of organizations offering financial assistance across Alberta.

The UCA also provides educational presentations for groups. Contact the Consumer Education team to arrange one for your staff or the community members you work with.

The UCA’s Mediation Team can help you understand your bill, review the terms and conditions of contracts, find rates and resolve issues with your utility provider. Give them a call at 310-4822 during business hours or email ucahelps@gov.ab.ca. The UCA’s mediation services are completely free, and interpretation services are available in over 240 languages.
