International Day of Persons with Disabilities

December 3 is International Day of People with Disabilities. Not all disabilities are noticeable. Persons with hidden disabilities such as Mental illness, neurodivergence, diabetes, chronic pain, cognitive dysfunction and much more, are used to “masking” their disability. The annual observance of the International Day of Disabled Persons was proclaimed in 1992, by the United Nations General Assembly resolution 47/3. This Day aims to promote an understanding of disability issues, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities. It also seeks to increase awareness of the benefits from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life. The theme of the 2023 International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) is: "United in action to rescue and achieve the SDGs for, with and by persons with disabilities".
