Increasing Public Participation and Influence in Local Decision-Making
This research is a mix-method systematic review that explores creating conditions for people to exert influence and control, expand public participation, and how this can lead to addressing health inequities. Areas to prioritise for action within local governance systems include: supporting community capabilities; relationships between organisations and communities; creating spaces for safe/equitable interaction and knowledge-sharing; and changing institutional culture.
