Combat Mental Health Stigma with a Shift Towards People-First Language
People-first language is the step of prioritizing a person over their illness, disability, or condition when addressing them. It helps the speaker to be mindful of their language and to bring the focus back to the person by avoiding language and terminology that can stigmatize.
