2024 Calgary Winter Information Fair

The Calgary Local Immigration Partnership is hosting a Winter Information Fair on January 16 at the Genesis Centre from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Age-Friendly Calgary and other seniors’ serving organizations will have booths; come and say hello!  

Whether you're new to the city or a long-time resident, this in-person event is the perfect opportunity to discover all the essentials of being prepared for the winter and the exciting happenings during the chilly season. Meet community organizations and service providers who will be sharing valuable information about winter preparedness, programs, tools, and resources in Calgary on the following topics:

 

  • Clearing snow from roadways and sidewalks to help yourself and others travel or commute safely in cold weather.
  • Preparing your home and car for the winter conditions.
  • Knowing what to do when your car is stuck in cold weather.
  • Avoiding cold-related illness and injury for your family’s health and safety.
  • Understanding emotional challenges during the winter.
  • Accessing clothing, food, shelter, and transportation when needed.
  • Exploring winter activities, and
  • Knowing who to contact during emergencies.
