Systems Improvements for Income Support and AISH Programs
Today (June 8, 2022), Community and Social Services is launching a new, user-friendly online application for the Income Support program. The online application can be accessed at https://www.alberta.ca/income-support-how-to-apply.aspx.
The new easy-to-use application means Albertans can apply for benefits 24/7 from anywhere using a computer or mobile device. Other improvements include enabling applicants to submit required documents online and save their partially completed application so they can return to it later. The enhancements to the Income Support system align with the new online application for the Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) program, which launched in May (https://www.alberta.ca/aish-how-to-apply.aspx).
The new AISH online application and the improvements to the Income Support application are part of the government’s commitment to reduce red tape, modernize systems and make it easier for people to access the services they need. The Income Support application was built in collaboration with several community partners – the Bissell Centre, Oxford House, the Alex, C5 Hub in Edmonton, and FCSS Leduc County provided testing for the online application, as well as valuable feedback. The Boyle McCauley Health Centre provided feedback and testing for the AISH online application.
In-person services remain available for those who need them and can be accessed by calling or visiting the local Alberta Supports office. Alberta Supports location and contact information can be found at https://www.alberta.ca/alberta-supports.aspx .
The Alberta Supports Contact Centre can be reached at 1-877-644-9992, Monday to Friday between 7:30 am and 8 pm. Help is available in more than 100 languages
