Minister of Culture, Multiculturalism and Status of Women Leela Sharon Aheer issued the following statement on sexual violence in Alberta:

“Sexual violence has a ripple effect through our communities and affects every single one of us. Sexual violence often lives in the shadows. We need to empower Albertans and local communities to say something when they see something.

“Sexual Violence Awareness Month was proclaimed to help shine a light on this critical issue. It is a commitment to address sexual violence in our communities, and a commitment to support survivors and prevent this violence from occurring. As a society, it is our collective responsibility to end and prevent sexual violence.
