Pandemic pet: communal cat brings comfort for Calgary seniors
Silvera’s first Cat Room opened in April. Fostering felines has brought a lot of joy to residents and employees at Valleyview!
This initiative has been a few years in the making. Silvera was inspired by the Cat Room by Cypress View Foundation in Medicine Hat. Silvera then conducted research around the benefits of pets in seniors' communities and found a great local partner in Calgary Humane Society.
Furry critters are now helping residents live their best lives by staying active, feeling happier, and being more connected. (Cats and small dogs are also welcome at Shouldice and Westview communities!)
