Mental Health/Wellness Resources as Follow-Up to Stakeholder Call with Government of Alberta Seniors and Housing

Mental Health/Wellness Resources

As highlighted during the call, mental health support for frontline workers and staff dealing with the stress of the pandemic is top of mind for many. Please visit the Alberta Health Services website here for current initiatives and mental health services. Alberta Health Services and other organizations offer a variety of resources including:

  • The “Help in Tough Times” page has a number of mental wellness resources and can be accessed here;
  • Togetherall is a free clinically moderated, online peer-to-peer mental health community that can be accessed here;
  • Mobile tools to deal with stress resources can be found here;
  • Mental Health Resources, including information on the Mental Health Helpline, can be found here;
  • Free training and tools for frontline workers is available here;
  • Wellness Together Canada has a number of resources that can be accessed here;
  • CAMH, the largest mental health teaching hospital in Canada, provides programs and resources that can be found here;
  • Morneau Shepell offers some resources that can be accessed here;
  • Alberta 211 provides information, referrals and crisis support via phone, text, chat, and website referrals and resources, including addiction and mental health referrals and resources. Professionally trained specialists are available by texting INFO to 2-1-1, live chat through the website, ab.211.ca,or calling 2-1-1;
  • The Crisis Text Line Alberta is a service available 24-7 that offers information, referrals, and volunteer-led, text based support for Albertans of all ages, by texting CONNECT to 741741;
  • Primary Care Networks provide mental health supports, such as individual counselling, social work navigation, group therapy, and workshops; and  
  • The Psychologists’ Association of Alberta Disaster Response Network offers short-term (1 – 3 sessions) pro-bono psychological services for Albertans. Priority is given to frontline workers.
