As we approach the end of the year, Healthy Aging Alberta wants to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to every one of you and to celebrate together all we’ve achieved as a sector in 2023!

The dedication and efforts of community-based seniors’ serving organizations, allied partners, and the Government of Alberta have made this last year unforgettable. For so many reasons, when we look back at the history of the development of the sector, we believe 2023 will shine as a pivotal moment where the sector emerged in its sense of identity, connection and shared vision.

We have accomplished many things with the launch of thirty-one funded programmatic initiatives, the rollout of an updated version of Healthy Aging CORE Alberta, our second year of regional gatherings, the Healthy Aging Alberta Summit that brought over 626 people from across the sector, and Phase 1 of the Provincial Assisted Transportation Project, updates to our Healthy Aging Framework and Systems map, continued sector development, workforce strategy discussions, and more! Together, we've accomplished so much, and 2023 has been remarkable!

In addition to all this good work, we also want to acknowledge that it has been a challenging year for many older adults, and the organizations and staff that support them. We hope the holiday season is regenerative and restful for the many dedicated staff and volunteers who work hard every day to support and engage older adults every day across Alberta.

In the new year, your Healthy Aging Alberta will continue to work with community and allied partners to work towards building the network, supporting sector development, and strengthening the sector's voice. We will work together to continue to move towards our vision of making Alberta one of the best places to grow older!

On behalf of Healthy Aging Alberta, our Community Leadership Council, and United Way of Calgary and Area, we thank you for your support throughout the year and wish you a happy new year filled with joy and growth!

Sincerely,

Healthy Aging Alberta
