Wellspring Alberta's Supporting Our Kids in Caregiving

event and training image

Join us to learn about identifying, empowering and supporting young caregivers in Alberta.

You will hear from Alicia Pinelli (they/them), MSW, RSW, RSSW, who is the Clinical Lead with Young Caregivers Association.

Young Caregivers are those under the age of 25 years, who provide various forms of unpaid support within their homes including medical, physical, and emotional support to a loved one such as a parent(s), grandparent(s), or sibling(s). Within Canada, there are an estimated 1.25 million Young Caregivers, with the numbers only growing, who are at a higher risk for a variety of impacts than their non-caregiving peers. Despite this, there is a lack of understanding from our communities on how to identify a young caregiver, support services specialized to their experience, and knowledge of their unique needs. Through centering the voices and lived experience of Young Caregivers we can begin to help bring awareness to, identify, and support the caregivers in their own communities.
