Community Gathering: Driving and Dementia

event and training image

If you have driven for years, driving provides a sense of independence and becomes second nature. What happens to your independence when you're diagnosed with dementia? As the disease progresses, how and when does driving become dangerous? What are the supports, resources, and alternatives to driving available?

People with lived dementia experience are encouraged to attend and share their input on how to navigate the system following a dementia diagnosis. This event will host a panel of guest speakers followed by facilitated table conversations.

Learn about the challenges individuals with dementia face when it comes to driving and how to navigate this sensitive issue. Our knowledgeable speakers will provide valuable insights related to dementia and driving. Don't miss this opportunity to share your lived experience with dementia.

The Dementia Network Calgary will host a community gathering to address issues around driving and dementia. The Network is looking to understand the process leading an individual with dementia to stop driving, the individual’s journey through the system, the resources people accessed and alternatives they found helpful. The community gathering will be held on September 18th from 6:30-8:00 pm at the Greater Forest Lawn 55+ Society (3425-26 Ave. SE).
