The CORE Emergency and Disaster Preparedness for Older Adults in Alberta Group hosted a presentation and discussion forum on Sep. 22, 2022 to officially launch their group on CORE! Participants learned about a project and resources that they could use to support their community. They heard from the Alberta Emergency Management Agency and discussed what is needed to increase community and individual resilience in the face of increasing disasters and emergencies in Alberta, including vulnerable older adults who go missing.

About the host: Disasters in Alberta are increasing in frequency, scope, scale and complexity. The CORE Emergency and Disaster Preparedness for Older Adults in Alberta Group will share resources, support the formation of community networks, and form a community of practice around disaster and emergency preparedness for older adults. Existing local, provincial, national and international work will be leveraged and duplication will be reduced.
