Family Violence Awareness Materials

The Government of Alberta is currently running a family violence awareness campaign. As part of the campaign, they developed posters and short videos intended to provoke hope and promote awareness that reaching out can make a difference. The videos, which will be shared on Your Alberta social media, are based on a testimonial from an Albertan who engaged in abusive behaviours and wanted to change.

“I had physically abused my ex-girlfriend – that’s why she left me. The way my life was going, I needed new direction. I couldn’t keep a partner, I couldn’t keep jobs. … I wasn’t a happy person.”

He reached out for help and was able to make positive changes in his life.

“I’ve made progress.”

The videos can be found here: Man 1, Man 2, Man 3, 30 second testimonial and 60 second testimonial

The posters (and other resources) can be downloaded from the family violence resources page: https://www.alberta.ca/family-violence-prevention-resources
