Town of Banff - Community Grants (April 30, 2026)
Community Grants
The 2026 Town of Banff Community Grants application period will be open from April 1- April 30, 2026.
Town of Banff Community Grants were established to provide an annual distribution of funds to enhance the quality of life for residents and encourage positive environmental change.
Grant applications are reviewed by the municipal Community Grants Committee, using the scoring matrix seen below. The Committee will provide recommendations to Banff Town Council for the distribution of funds.
The three, grant funding streams are:
Municipal Community Wellbeing Grants
Municipal Community Wellbeing Grants provide support for Banff-based, registered non-profits, charities, societies or community groups for actions that benefit Banff residents and enhance their quality of life.
- Who can apply: Eligible non-profit or community organizations serving Banff
- Funds support: Community projects, programs, initiatives, or events
- Total funds available: $11,000
- Maximum funding request: $10,000
FCSS Building Bridges Grants
This grant provides funding which aligns with the mission of Family and Community Support Services (FCSS)- strengthening the social well-being of the community. To engage residents and inspire action, by supporting community ideas and opportunities.
- Who can apply: Individuals, groups of neighbours or community members, non-registered community groups or organization. Must be a Banff or Lake Louise resident.
- Funds may support: applications that enhance community connections, relieve social isolations, welcome diverse groups, demonstrate a locally driven approach, encourage people to get involved in their community.
- Total funds available: $11,000
Positive Environmental Impact Grants
These grants support community-led initiatives that reduce waste and greenhouse gas emissions, helping Banff become a model environmental community.
- Who can apply: Individuals; informal groups of individuals/neighbours; non-registered groups/community organizations; and registered charities or societies who are residents of Banff or Lake Louise.
- Funding support examples: Residential composting and recycling; eliminating single-use items/plastics; circular economy initiatives (e.g., sharing/lending services, upcycling); local solar/biomass/geothermal; energy efficiency; water conservation; shifting to transit/active transportation; FireSmart-friendly tree planting; citizen science (e.g., invasive species, air quality, bird counts, fish surveys); community clean-ups; and projects that build capacity and empower local environmental action
- Total funds available: $20,000
- Maximum funding request: $10,000

- Pitch Deck or Video Submission: Download the Application Questions (PDF) and submit either:
- A pitch deck via email to fcss@banff.ca
- A video by uploading it to a shared platform (e.g., Dropbox, YouTube) and emailing the link to fcss@banff.ca
- In-Person Submission: Pick up a paper copy of the Community Grant application questions at Banff Town Hall (110 Bear St.), Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM. Submit completed paper applications at the same location.
