The HEART Program
Β
The HEART Program is an innovative program developed by the City of Lethbridge in collaboration with senior serving systems and community-based organizations that offers vulnerable homeowners an opportunity to seek assistance from a number of different programs and resources through a one-stop-shop model utilizing a central tax, assessment, and community partner outreach team. The municipal office of Assessment and Tax works with agencies such as the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Alberta South Region, Lethbridge Elder Abuse Response Network (LEARN), and the Hoarding, Outreach, Management and Education (HOME) teams to assist vulnerable homeowners. The program has been highly successful, supporting vulnerable citizens by addressing abuse, illiteracy, mental health, medical issues, substance abuse, and hoarding. The International Association of Assessing Officers honored The City of Lethbridge with the 2020 Public Information Program Award for this first of its kind program.
