Edmonton Seniors Home Supports Program

program image

The Edmonton Seniors Home Supports Program (SHSP) is a referral service that gives seniors referrals to screened service providers which offer snow removal, yard help, housekeeping. home repair and maintenance, personal services, and moving help. The program divides the city of Edmonton into six districts. In each district a seniors organization acts as a community hub to coordinate the program in that area of Edmonton.

SHSP FAQs

Edmonotn Seniors Coordinating Council supports the Seniors Home Supports Program as the backbone organization to keep the initiative on track. We chair and provide administrative support for committees, update the program manual, oversee the developmental evaluation of the program, facilitate connections, liaise with the database provider to make system improvements and generate reports, lead shared promotion and advertising, and facilitate resource sharing among partners.

2020 was the fifth year of operation for the Seniors Home Supports Program (SHSP). In navigating changes in staffing and the external environment (such as the pandemic), it is clear the collaborative program has matured and demonstrated resilience through trying times. SHSP recently released its 2020 Evaluation Report. Highlights include a high client satisfaction rate (96%), increased emotional supports for clients throughout the pandemic, and more. You can find out more by consulting the full report.
