Now is the time to nominate an outstanding individual, a not-for-profit organization, a social enterprise or a socially responsible business who has made a significant contribution in improving the lives of others in their community through volunteering. Help them get the recognition they deserve.
The nomination period for Canada’s Volunteer Awards is officially open and will run until March 4, 2022.
Canada’s Volunteer Awards is a federal recognition program under the Department of Employment and Social Development Canada that acknowledges the important contributions of Canadians through volunteering. Did you know that seniors contribute to the largest number of volunteer hours in Canada? In fact, Baby-boomers and Mature generations represent 25% of Canadians who volunteer every year.
Twenty-one awards will be presented, including one national award, the Thérèse Casgrain Lifelong Achievement award. This award recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional achievements through volunteering for at least 20 years. The 20 regional awards are distributed in the following four categories across five regions: Community Leader, Emerging Leader, Business Leader, and Social Innovator.
The award recipients will be recognized at a national award ceremony and will be given the opportunity to identify a not-for-profit organization to receive a grant. They will also participate in an exemplary practices forum and join leaders in the Canada’s Volunteer Awards community.
