ENGAGEMENT CALL OUT - Health Standards Survey - Malnutrition Prevention, Detection and Treatment Standard

Canadian Malnutrition Task Force
Description / Summary

The Public Review of the Health Standards Survey - Malnutrition Prevention, Detection and Treatment Standard has been launched!

The aim of this survey is to increase awareness of this standard and encourage multidisciplinary feedback on it. The Canadian Malnutrition Task Force (CMTF) Advisory Committee initiated work on the Malnutrition Prevention, Detection and Treatment Standard with Health Standards Organization (HSO). Development of this standard has included international expertise, and the content is applicable to both adult and pediatric populations. After this standard is finalized, Accreditation Canada will review and decide whether it will become a Required Organizational Practice (ROP) and it may apply to Emergency, Critical Care, Perioperative/Surgery, and Inpatient Services within acute care.

The draft Standard for Malnutrition Prevention, Detection and Treatment reinforces many of the steps that have been taking to address malnutrition at AHS sites. Attached are two infographics that were developed for Canadian Malnutrition Awareness Week, which is coming soon (October 5-9). These infographics provide helpful background information. In addition, the AHS website: Healthy Eating to Address Malnutrition has resources.

Please reviewing the Standard and provide your feedback through the Survey.

Public Review is open for 60 days, and closes at midnight on October 27, 2020.
