Storytelling Alberta (Calgary Chapter) launched a special friendly outreach program called StoryShare during the pandemic for Calgary and area seniors 65 years of age or over. We have delivered over 75 sessions so far to rave reviews!
Our storyteller/volunteer team sets up StoryShare with a senior via 3-way conference call or video platform. During the session:
1) The storyteller delivers a story
2) The senior shares an anecdote (if they wish) from his/her lived history, and,
3) The volunteer checks in with the senior about any pressing needs they might have and then gives the senior information on services that would help them meet those needs.
Storytelling Alberta is proud to host the official online launch party on October 5 at 7:00 p.m. of our StoryShare project. Come hear about our adventures of sharing stories with Calgary (and area) seniors and hearing theirs in return. Warm thanks to our partners, Calgary Seniors Resource Society and the Federal Government for making this project possible.

"These are oral stories, so when our storytellers call, they are not just reading, these are oral stories. People really connect with personal stories and it sparks their own memories. They can also be folk tales, literary adaptations or historical stories," ~ Storytelling Alberta president Doreen Vanderstoop
